Apple MacBook users received security warnings from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-in) recently. The notification said that MacOS had been reported with a lot of vulnerability. The post says the Apple Macos Catalina version, Big Sur and Monterey are at risk if you use it with security updates before 2022-005, version 11.6.8, and 12.5 each. Likewise, if you have an iPhone or iPad, the version before 15.6 has been affected. The problem can be exploited by remote attackers to run the code arbitrarily and cut security restrictions on the targeted system, according to the Serang Post. In the iPhone and iPad, this high-risk vulnerability has been found because out-of-found written in audio, GPU, ICU, and webkit drivers, and buffer overflows in Appleavd.
Outside the limits are read in Apply Script, SMB, and Kernel, and Out-of-Bound written in Audio, ICU, PS Normalizer, Gu Driver, SMB, and Webkit, as highlighted by the certificate post. File systems, plugin kit, windows server, automation, and memory corruption in the Intel Graphic Driver, GPU Driver, and SMB are among other known vulnerabilities, he added.
For most users, this problem will be difficult to understand, but what they must know is that if their mac book, iPad or iPhone runs on outdated software, these elements can be exploited to attack your device, and even steal important information from a distance. You will never know whether such an attack occurs on your device.
So, how does someone secure the device from this vulnerability? Simple, you update. Cert-in confirmed that Apple had issued an update that fixed security gaps on the MacBook, iPad, and iPhone. Simply go to the settings of each Apple device, and see if there is an update available. If so, then immediately update the software.
