Tokyo: The Japanese military said that Monday was looking for a combat jet that disappeared from radar shortly after taking off, with the media reported “red light” visible and debris had been found.
“The Jet F15 track disappeared from the Komatsu Control Tower data after taking off,” a spokesman for the Japanese Wind Defense (ASDF) told AFP.
The plane disappeared about five kilometers (three miles) from Komatsu Airbase in the central area of Ishikawa, in the sea of Japan, he added.
Kyodo news agency reported fighters was training with two crew on the board when the radar contact was lost at around 5:30 a.m.
ASDF said finding several floating objects in the area where the plane went radar during search and rescue operations, according to Kyodo.
A local coast guard tells Kyodo that it has received a call to report “red light” near the base at the same time.
Japan sometimes sees accidents involving the Air Force, including in 2019 when the F-35a Demon Jet crashed into the sea after the pilot suffered a spatial disorientation.
The accident triggered a struggle for restoring pilots and secrets on the plane.
